Sarah’s Edit to Munich, Germany

A founder's travel notes. Good bread, and what to do when you land in Munich.

When Sarah Choi, founder of IMEAN, travels, she doesn’t overplan. She walks, she edits, she lets the city reveal itself. This is her short guide to Munich: where to go, eat, walk, and pause.

Start at the Park

Englischer Garten

One of the largest city parks in Europe and somehow, always full. Not crowded. Full. Volleyball, picnic blankets, cold beers by the river. In Germany, you don’t just walk through parks. You stay.

Museums First

Sammlung Moderne Kunst, Haus der Kunst, Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam), and more
Sarah always starts with museums. It's the fastest way to understand a city. The buildings, the quiet, the curation, everything feels intentional. Munich has plenty.

“Museums are always my first stop in a new country.”

Organic Bread Worth Walking For

Julius Brantner Brothandwerk

They only make a few breads. But each one? Perfect. Slow-fermented, easier to digest, and totally worth the walk.

Local markets

Always stop at the market for fresh fruit, seasonal vegetables, and a strong coffee. At Viktualienmarkt, even the

café is worth the line.

Alois at Dallmayr

Upstairs in Munich’s iconic Dallmayr building, you’ll find Alois. Elegant but not too formal. Seasonal, soft lighting, and a good pause if you're looking for something a little more refined.

Good if you’re in the mood for something a little more refined. Lunch or dinner.

Bonus: A View You Don’t Expect

Nespresso House at Marienplatz

Espresso. Modern architecture. And a surprisingly calm view over the plaza. Good for a slow moment between walks.
